Benicia Police Catch Alleged Thief, Reunite Woman With Stolen Jewelry, Credit Card

Benicia police say they recovered over $25,000 worth of jewelry from a suspect recently and returned it to the rightful owner.

BENICIA, CA -- A victim who had her jewelry and credit card stolen wound up with a happy ending recently after Benicia police managed to catch a suspect as well as the missing property.

Benicia police say they recovered more than $25,000 worth of jewelry after an investigation in which the suspect was identified as Gilberto Upton, 25, of Benicia.

Upton was located last weekend, and during a search of his car, officers found the stolen credit card and the victim's stolen jewelry which were identified as the victim’s, in his possession. The second photo above shows a fraction of the recovered items.

Upton who was also found to be in possession of heroin, was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail.
