BENICIA - Firefighters extinguished a one-alarm blaze in a vacant Benicia residence under renovation after a chimney fire spread to the attic Wednesday afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to a smoke investigation in the 700 block of Military East at 3:16 p.m.
Arriving crews found a chimney fire spreading to the attic of a two-story residence at 782 Military East.

The fire had traveled into a secondary attic, and firefighters had to cut a vent in the roof to extinguish it.
