Applications are being accepted for annual grants of up to $20,000 per grant to support the needs of children and families in Solano County.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — First 5 Solano has released a request for applications for annual grants with up to $20,000 per grant available to address the needs of children ages 0-5, their parents/caregivers, and/or providers of services to children ages 0-5 in Solano County.
“During the first five years of life, a child’s brain develops more and faster than at any other time in their life, laying the foundation for future learning and success,” said Erin Hannigan, Chair of the First 5 Solano Commission and District 1 Supervisor of the Solano County Board of Supervisors. “This innovative grant provides community partners an opportunity to propose new ideas for programs that support the needs of children and families in Solano County.”

The purpose of the annual grants program is to provide an opportunity for the First 5 Solano Commission to consider grant requests that fill community gaps, pilot new or innovative ideas, or address time-sensitive community needs. The funding is also intended to help support the startup of projects and programs that can become sustained in the community.
This is the fifth year that the Commission has allocated funding toward this effort and has successfully supported programs in the community to provide the critical resources that families of young children need in order to grow, learn and thrive. All projects proposed for the Annual Grants Fund must support First 5 Solano’s mission to promote, support and improve the lives of young children, their families and their communities.
