SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Solano County deputies arrested a homeless man last week after they said he pulled a knife on a groundskeeper in Vallejo and threatened to kill him.

According to deputies, a groundskeeper in Vallejo was cleaning up around a building and asked a homeless person on the property to clean up his items.

Deputies said the groundskeeper left and returned to discover nothing had been cleaned up, and now the homeless man had defecated on the grass nearby.

When the groundskeeper approached him, deputies said the homeless man pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened to kill the groundskeeper.

"The employee promptly left and reported the incident. Deputies arrived and found the suspect, who still had the knife," the sheriff's office said via social media.

Initially, deputies said the homeless man was agitated and did not want to cooperate, but deputies used their de-escalation training to convince him to peacefully surrender.

He was arrested and booked for pulling a knife and making criminal threats, the sheriff's office said.
