Mechanical Issue Forces Flaring At Benicia Valero Refinery

BENICIA, CA — The Valero refinery in Benicia underwent forced flaring on Thursday after reporting mechanical issues, the Benicia Fire Department announced on Twitter.
Flaring is a safety measure taken by refineries to remove excess emissions that might have built up due to mechanical problems.
According to the Fire Department, crews would continue to monitor the situation and did not expect any off-site health impacts.
