North Bay Felon Busted With Multiple Weapons, Ammo

46-year-old William Kevin Sanford, on probation for possession of illegal drugs, was found with rifles, a shotgun, handgun and ammunition.

NORTH BAY, CA -- A man on probation for drug possession has been arrested in Sonoma County after being found in possession of an assault weapon and ammunition, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

At about 1:10 pm on Wednesday Jan. 18, detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office's property crimes unit conducted a probation search in the 6400 block of Highway 12 in Santa Rosa on 46-year-old William Kevin Sanford, who's on probation for drug possession.

During the residential search, Sanford was found to be in possession of numerous firearms, including a loaded, illegal, high powered assault weapon and numerous high capacity magazines. Since Sanford is a convicted felon, it's illegal for him to possess any firearms.

Along with the assault weapon, detectives located two other rifles, a shotgun, handgun and numerous rounds of ammunition, all in the above photo.

Sanford was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for violation of being a felon in possession of an illegal assault weapon and being a felon in possession of several other firearms.
