Westbound I-80 Reopened After Man Perched on Overpass Comes Down

UPDATE:Â Authorities have reopened westbound Interstate Highway 80 in
Vallejo, where a man had shut down traffic by climbing over a fence on a
freeway overpass.

Negotiators were called in to speak with the man, who agreed to come down around 2:15 p.m.

Vallejo police Sgt. Herman Robinson said the man climbed over a fence on the overcrossing and is sitting on a freeway sign over the No. 3 westbound lane. The incident was reported at 1:07 p.m.Â
The California Highway Patrol has closed westbound I-80 at Georgia Street, and firefighters and medics are standing by.Â
Negotiators have been called in to speak with the man, Robinson said.
