SCOE Distributes COVID-19 Test Kits
"Solano County Office of Education is positioned to support Solano school districts, charters and families in any way we can."
SOLANO COUNTY, CA — The Solano County Office of Education handed out iHealth COVID-19 home-testing kits Wednesday to school district representatives, educators and parents.
"Solano County Office of Education coordinated PPE (personal protective equipment) distribution to Solano schools during the pandemic and we will continue that role with testing kits," said Solano Superintendent of Schools Lisette Estrella-Henderson, who assisted with the kit distribution Wednesday from SCOE's main office at 5100 Business Center Drive in Fairfield.
While the California Department of Public Health released a statement last week encouraging all students and school employees to test at home for COVID-19 twice before returning from the winter break, there is no associated statewide requirement to have a documented negative test prior to returning to school. Home-testing for asymptomatic individuals is also optional.

Still, the Solano County Office of Education partnered with Solano Public Health and the California Office of Emergency Services to acquire and distribute COVID-19 testing kits for school districts that have not already received kits directly from the state.
SCOE plans to continue to coordinate the distribution of kits in the coming week, as well.
