"Stick 'em Up?" "No, Never Mind. Gotta Go."

As a man begins to rob a bank branch at a Lucky Store in Hercules, he changes his mind, grabs back his note, and flees.

HERCULES-Police are seeking a man involved in an attempted bank robbery that occurred shortly before noon on Monday in Hercules, during which the suspect handed a demand note to a teller before unexpectedly snatching it back and leaving.

Police said a man attempted to rob a U.S. Bank branch inside a Lucky Store at 1590 Sycamore Ave. after he entered the store at 11:58 a.m.

The suspect apparently told a teller that he wanted to do a cash withdrawal, then handed the teller a demand note, police said. The suspect then took the note back as the teller was reading it and left the store without any money.

The suspect did not appear to have a weapon, police said.

Police described the suspect as a white or Hispanic man who is around 30 to 40 years old. He is said to weigh between 160 and 180 pounds and stand about 5 feet 7 inches call.

Police also said he had dark brown hair and a thick mustache.

He was apparently wearing a burgundy baseball cap, sunglasses, a black jacket, blue jeans, red San Francisco 49ers gloves and Vans shoes.

Another robbery of a U.S. Bank branch occurred Monday morning inside a Safeway in El Cerrito, but a different suspect is being sought for that incident.
