Smart Flying Crows... by Peter Bray
We are a species of
morons and idiots with a few
saints and angels mixed in
to give us faith and hope,
sort of like condiments
in the middle of a mediocre salad...
like smart flying crows,
flying over and pooping on
a dysfunctional Congress...
If this is democracy,
what's anarchy?
How close are we?
Is there a third option?
One-eyed jackals
dragging dead fish
appear to have
higher aspirations.
Now that you’ve read the poem, here is a commentary by Benicia Patch Poetry Maestro Jeff Burkhart: Today’s Friday Poem is by Peter Bray and is entitled “Smart Flying Crows...” A lot of you know Peter Bray and his work. In this week's featured piece, he expresses the frustration that many Americans feel about gridlock in government and the general dumbing down of America. Sometimes you’ve just got to let it out. So this is to all the people whose mortgages are upside down and have seen their pensions worth be drastically diminished. It’s to all of those who find themselves looking for work in their retirement, only to find that because of uncertainty about health-care and the direction of the economy, only part time work is available, if any at all for elder Americans. I’ll evoke a famous movie quote. “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!”
