​Violent Man Discards Knife After Being Confronted By Police Dog

A man with a knife who robbed and threatened people in two businesses surrendered when he was confronted with a police dog, police said.

VALLEJO, CA — A man with a knife who robbed and threatened people in two businesses surrendered when he was confronted with a police dog, Vallejo police said Saturday on social media.

The man, wearing a black jacket and gray sweatpants, first tried to rob a restaurant in the 3600 block of Sonoma Boulevard on Friday. He demanded food and money, but the staff refused, and he got away with only $6 worth of stolen items, police said.

The man later entered another business in the 3600 block of Sonoma Boulevard, vandalized it and threatened to kill the staff, police said.

Police located the man in the 800 block of Redwood Street. After a standoff with police, he discarded his knife but resisted surrendering until the police dog arrived and deescalated the situation, police said.
