1 Arrest, 40 Citations At DUI Checkpoint
The Berkeley Police Department conducted a drivers license/DUI checkpoint last Thursday.

BERKELEY, CA — One person was arrested and another 40 received citations last Thursday night when the Berkeley Police Department held a drivers license/DUI checkpoint.
The arrest was for failing to comply with the checkpoint and obstructing officers. The 40 tickets were issued for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license.
While 15 drivers were evaluated for DUI, none were arrested.

The checkpoint was held on University Avenue at Acton Street.
According to the police department, DUI checkpoint locations are chosen because of previous impaired driving-related crashes.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
