2 Berkeley Shootings Probed: Cops

The shootings occurred over the holiday weekend. At least one person suffered gunshot wounds.

BERKELEY, CA — Two Berkeley shootings over the holiday weekend left at least one person injured, police said.

One person was shot in a Monday afternoon incident first reported by Berkeleyside near Sacramento Market (2974 Sacramento St.) was reported to authorities at around 3:20 p.m., police said.

The adult victim was found at an at an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, police said.

“The involved parties fled the scene and the investigation is ongoing,” police said in a statement.

An investigation of the shooting led to the closure of several blocks in the area.

Several vehicles were also struck in the incident.

On Saturday at around 1:35 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Virginia and 7th streets, police said.

Two victims told officers that someone had shot at their vehicle, police said.

The victims were not injured, police said.

“We located damage on the victim’s vehicle from gunfire. The investigation is ongoing,” police said in a statement.
