3 UC Berkeley Frats Lose Status Over Hazing: Report

BERKELEY, CA — Three UC Berkeley fraternizes implicated in hazing incidents lost their official status last week, Berkeleyside reports.
The university revoked recognition of Chi Phi and Theta Delta Chi through January 2026, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon through January 2029, according to the report.
The latest announcement brings the total of unrecognized UC Berkeley fraternities and sororities to 12 with just one sorority on the list, the report said.

“Students are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to not join these groups,” the university wrote on its on its CalGreeks webpage. The university is also admonishing other recognized fraternities and sororities to avoid “events, programs, invites, or activities” with unrecognized groups, the report said.
