4 Arrests For Organized Retail Theft: Berkeley Police
The police department has created a special division to deal with the thefts.
BERKELEY, CA — The Berkeley Police Department formed a Retail Crime Abatement Team to combat the proliferation of organized retail crime plaguing Berkeley.
As a direct result of the effort, the police department reports that four suspects were arrested for crimes including theft, possession of stolen property and burglary tools while also recovering over $800 worth of stolen merchandise.
The arrests were made during a surveillance operation in the Gilman District last week.
