A 'Cuppa Tea Coming Soon in Elmwood, Now Hiring

The tea shop has relocated further up College Avenue in the Elmwood district and plans to open by the end of next week.

The owners of A 'Cuppa Tea were busy painting Wednesday morning amid the sounds of drilling, sweeping and scraping.

The tea shop from its old spot on College Avenue at Alcatraz further up the street into Elmwood at 2992 College Avenue. A new Peet's store will open up where A 'Cuppa Tea used to be — the company's ninth in Berkeley

While the old building boasted plenty of space and a relaxed atmosphere, the new one is making progress.

Judging from a peek through the open door, the Elmwood space looks a little smaller, although the high ceilings and a balcony area at the back give the place a bright, breezy feel. The first decoration is already up: a clock hanging on the wall that reads, "time for tea."

And the time for tea will apparently be next Thursday — at least that's the hope, according to Lin Vu, who owns the tea shop with her husband Lee. The Vus had originally planned to be back in business by Sept. 4, a day after vacating the old premises.
