Brown Sugar Kitchen had become a destination for travelers and foodies.

OAKLAND, CA — A beloved East Bay eatery is closing its doors after a run of nearly 14 years, Berkeleyside reports.

Brown Sugar Kitchen had become a destination for travelers and foodies since opening at 2534 Mandela Parkway in West Oakland in 2008. The restaurant in 2019 moved into a 4,000-square-foot location at 2295 Broadway.

Tanya Holland, the restaurant’s owner, appears on the cable show Top Chef and has her own cooking show on OWN.
