Berkeley Armed Robberies Probed

BERKELEY, CA — Two armed robberies were reported near the UC Berkeley campus early Friday morning at around the same time and are believed to involve the same suspects, police said.

The robberies involved three suspects in a vehicle, police said. In both incidents a rear passenger exited the vehicle and approached the victims with a black handgun.

In the first robbery, which occurred at around 12:10 a.m. in the 2400 block of Haste Street (between Telegraph Avenue and Durant Street) the suspects took a purse from their victim.
The second robbery was at the intersection of Haste and Ellsworth streets, just two blocks from the first incident, police said.

The suspects were last season driving away from the season westbound on Haste Street, police said.
