Berkeley Back-To-School Events, Dates

BERKELEY, CA — It’s back-to-school season in the Bay Area, and the Berkeley Unified School District, for one, is ready for students, their families and the 2025-2026 school year.

The first day of school for Berkeley Unified students, transitional kindergarten through high school, is August 13, school officials announced Friday.

There are other events to keep in mind, school officials noted, including a Berkeley Unified School District Board of Education meeting on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The hybrid meeting will take place at 1231 Addison St., Berkeley, and via Zoom. All Board meetings are open to the public, who are encouraged to attend, according to school officials. The agenda for Wednesday is available here.

There’s also a “School Supplies Giveaway” happening Sunday. The giveaway event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., supports TK-12 students in need of school supplies. It will take place at San Pablo Park, located at 2800 Park St., Berkeley.

Other 2025-2026 school year dates to mark on or in physical or digital calendars include the following:

Fall Recess: Monday, November 24 to Friday, November 28, 2025
Winter Recess: Monday, December 22, 2025 to Friday, January 2, 2026
Spring Recess: Monday, March 30 to Friday, April 3, 2026
Last Day of School: Thursday, June 4, 2026
