Berkeley Police Activity Triggers Alert
Residents are urged to avoid the 1400 block of Prince Street and surrounding areas until further notice, Berkeley police said.
UPDATE: Bay City News reports that the potentially armed person surrendered to police in Berkeley Thursday afternoon after a standoff according to police.
As of 4:45 p.m., the suspect was in custody following the standoff in the 1400 block of Prince Street.
The 1400 Block of Prince Street has reopened according to police.

BERKELEY, CA — The Berkeley Police Department has issued an alert urging residents to avoid the 1400 block of Prince Street and surrounding areas.
“Officers are handling an incident involving a person who may armed. Please avoid the area bounded by Ashby Avenue, Dohr Street, 66th Street and Sacramento Street,” the alert said.
