Berkeley Readies For Coastal Cleanup
Registration for Saturday's annual event is open to individuals and groups who wish to volunteer.
BERKELEY, CA — The city of Berkeley will hold its annual Coastal Cleanup this weekend, and it's not too late to join.
The Berkeley Coastal Cleanup will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon along various areas of the Berkeley Waterfront and Aquatic Park.
Volunteers are scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. at Shorebird Park Nature Center (160 University Ave.).

Those interested in volunteering can pre-register online as an individual or group, and register in person on the day of the event.
Volunteers will collect trash and log it with the Clean Swell App or data cards. This will help compile data for one of the largest research efforts in the world. Coastal Cleanup Day is sponsored by the California Coastal Commission.

All participants will be required to fill out a waiver, and youth under 18 must have a waiver completed by their legal guardian.
To help reduce wasted, volunteers are asked to bring their own supplies such as a bucket or reusable bag, lightweight gardening gloves and their own reusable water bottles.
Such supplies will be available to those who are unable to bring their own.
The annual Coastal Cleanup has enlisted more than 1.5 million volunteers statewide who have removed over 25 million pounds of trash.
