Cheap Eats: Star Meats
This butcher shop and grocery store serves delicious gourmet sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.
The best sandwiches in life aren't free. But for about $8 you can sample some of the stars of the show at .
These gourmet sandwiches are flavorful and packed to the brim, from the meat-heavy "Godfather" (salami, hot coppa, proscuitto, provolone, argula, roasted peppers, olive oil and black pepper) to the vegetarian "Petit Sara" (portobello mushrooms, eggplant, roasted peppers, fresh mozerella, sun dried tomatoes, argula, balsamic vinegar and olive oil).
Nestled at the back of a grocery store, this butcher and deli counter offers comfort to those hoping to escape the daily grind for an hour. Star Meats might just be a little piece of heaven in a crazy world. The beer fridge is enormous (albeit pricey, depending on how much of a connoisseur you want to be), and this area of Claremont is quaint and peaceful, with hour-long, un-metered street parking.
