Early Morning Fire in Occupied Berkeley Home
Fire broke out in an occupied home on Milvia Street in Berkeley shortly after midnight this morning, Wednesday, fire officials said. No injuries were reported, and damage was estimated at $90,000.

A one-alarm house fire in South Berkeley early this morning, Wednesday, appears to have started in a garage storage unit, a fire official said.
The fire department received a report of smoke at a home in the 2800 block of Milvia St. at 12:17 a.m., acting Deputy Chief Avery Webb said.
Residents were home at the time of the fire, but everyone managed to get out and no injuries were reported, Webb said.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke seeping into the house from the walls and discovered a fire smoldering in a 10-by-20-foot storage area in the garage beneath the living quarters, Webb said.
The blaze was controlled at 1:08 a.m.
The slow-burning fire caused $70,000 in damage to the home and destroyed $20,000 in contents, Webb said.
The fire is not considered suspicious, but the cause remains under
investigation, Webb said.
