Exhibit Opening: Berkeley Women Vote: Celebrating California Suffrage 1911-2011

Robert P. J. Cooney, Jr., author of Winning the Vote: The Triumph of the American Woman Suffrage Movement, will speak at 3:15 pm at the opening. A Pink Tea will follow.

Berkeley’s suffragist leaders waged a systematic and creative campaign to pass the votes for women amendment to the California constitution in 1911. Using newly discovered materials by and about Mrs. Hester Harland, the campaign manager, the exhibit shows how Berkeley became the only Bay Area city to pass the measure.

Regular hours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 1-4 p.m. Telephone (510) 848-0181. Wheelchair accessible. Exhibit closes on March 31, 2012.
