Free Pet Vaccine and Microchip Clinic To Be Held In East Bay This Weekend

A spokesperson with the Berkeley Humane nonprofit says it's expected to be the largest event of its kind in East Bay history.

BERKELEY, CA — A Berkeley nonprofit is hosting a free pet vaccination and microchip clinic this weekend.

Berkeley Humane, a nonprofit that offers adoptions and low-cost veterinary care, will be collaborating with several organizations to deliver free and "essential" services to more than 600 pets across the East Bay.

Jason Barnes, a marketing manager with Berkeley Humane, told Patch that the clinic is expected to be the largest event of its kind in East Bay history.

The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday across nine locations in the East Bay — Berkeley Humane, Contra Costa Animal Services, Friends of Alameda Animal Shelter, Humane Society Silicon Valley, Oakland Animal Services, Marin Humane, Muttville, San Francisco SPCA, Valley Humane Society and Vets in Vans.

An appointment is not necessary to attend these events, according to Berkeley Humane officials.

“Families are desperate for affordable pet care right now, and we want every pet who needs help to get it,” Jeffrey Zerwekh, Executive Director of Berkeley Humane, said in a statement. “This is an incredibly positive, community-driven event, and we’re asking everyone to share it widely, so no family misses out.”

Berkeley Humane is located at 936 Carleton Street in Berkeley.
