Gunfire Erupts on Telegraph Avenue Shortly After Midnight
Gunfire rattled the campus southside neighborhood early Sunday morning, police said. Several shots were fired around Telegraph Avenue and Channing Way, two blocks south of the UC Berkeley. There were no known casualties, police said.

Several shots were fired around Telegraph Avenue and Channing Way shortly after midnight this morning, Sunday, and police rushing to the scene witnessed several cars speeding away and people running away, police said.
At noon Sunday, Berkeley police said they are unaware of anyone who was hit. Police received calls of the shooting around 12:30 a.m.
"So far as we know, nobody was hit and there was no substantial property damage," said Police Lt. Andrew Rateaver.
Shell casings were found at the scene, which was cordoned off by police during their investigation. It was not known how many shots were fired or how many shooters were involved, Rateaver said.
He said there's a possibility that the shootings could have been linked to a party about two blocks east on fraternity row that police had responded to about an hour earlier on disturbance-of-the-peace calls.
