Heard in Berkeley: Lessons from Dad in 1 Sentence
One thing many of us thank Dad for on Father's Day is what he taught us, right? We asked a few random people in Berkeley to tell us – in one sentence – what their fathers taught them. This short video captured a wide range of paternal advice.
In honor of Father's Day on June 16, a Patch editor wandered around Berkeley asking people at random if they'd be willing to answer one question:
"Can you tell me in one sentence what your father taught you?"
We asked people in parks, in shops, at sidewalk tables and on the Cal campus, and got a lot of good advice, both practical and philosophical.
The attached short video records the answers of eight people, whose lessons from Dad included:
- Never be afraid of the ball
- How to use a tape measure
- To better myself
- Perseverance
- Value knowledge
- Do something useful
- Try new things
- Life is too short to do anything that doesn't make you happy
