Police Investigate Purse Robbery at Nordstrom Rack Store

Police said the suspect snatched purses off of the rack and fled on his bicycle as an armed security guard tried to stop him.

EMERYVILLE, CA — Police in Emeryville are investigating a robbery that occurred Tuesday at a Nordstrom Rack store. Officers responded at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday to a call from the store at 3839 Emery St. about a robbery that had just occurred.

The male suspect entered the store, walked directly to a rack of purses and ripped them from a security cable, police said. He then fled out the front doors of the store and rode off on his bicycle. A security guard followed the suspect and tried to apprehend him, but the suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the guard, according to police. The guard, fearing for his safety, ran and the suspect then rode away with the stolen items.

The suspect is described as a black man between 45-50 years old who is 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a blue knit cap, a gray jacket with red lining and light-colored pants, police said.
