Kanye West Hospitalized Following Abrupt Cancellation of Saint Pablo Tour: Reports

The news of the cancellation was announced after West went on a tirade against Beyonce, Jay Z and Hillary Clinton at a Sacramento concert.

LOS ANGELES, CA — One day after canceling a concert at the Forum with only about three hours notice, rapper Kanye West on Monday scrapped the remainder of his Saint Pablo Tour.

No reason was given for the cancellation, but several sources told NBC News that West was under observation at a Los Angeles-area hospital following the abrupt cancellation.

According to NBC News, Los Angeles police responded to a medical welfare call at around 1:20 p.m. Monday. West was hospitalized for his own health and safety, and no criminal activity was suspected, the source told NBC News.

According to the gossip website TMZ.com, West was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation after being examined for exhaustion.

Los Angeles Police Department, without identifying West, confirmed that officers responded to a medical call at 1:20 p.m. in the 900 block of North Laurel Avenue in West Hollywood. The patient was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said, also without naming West.

On Tuesday, TMZ reported that West's personal physician, Dr. Michael Farzam, called police after he attempted to assault staff members at the gym. TMZ, citing an unnamed law enforcement source, said the doctor told police that West "suffers from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration."

Farzam said his patient's name was Jim Jones and gave a description that matches West, according to TMZ. The doctor also told the 911 dispatcher that West may become violent when police come, according to TMZ.

The gossip website also reported that West was handcuffed to the stretcher, as per protocol when a person has been placed under a psychiatric hold, though there were conflicting reports on whether Farzam had placed such a hold.

Concert promoter Live Nation said that tickets "will be fully refunded at point of purchase." West had been scheduled to perform at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Wednesday and in Fresno on Tuesday.

West had been scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Forum, but that concert was called off at about 5 p.m. The concert was supposed to be a makeup for West leaving early from a Nov. 3 appearance at the Forum due to what he called vocal issues.

One day earlier, the rapper, who is married to reality television personality Kim Kardashian, walked off stage only four songs into a concert in Sacramento, a show in which he took the stage about 90 minutes late.

At that concert, West went into a tirade in which he railed against Beyonce, Jay Z, Hillary Clinton, the radio industry and the media before exiting the stage.

Last Thursday, during a San Jose appearance, he elicited boos when he told the crowd in a well-publicized, profanity-laced dialogue that he didn't vote in the recent presidential election but he would have voted for Donald Trump.
