Former Beverly Hills Patch Columnist Pens Novel

You may remember David De Bacco as the writer of Beverly Hills Patch's Fresh from the Farmers' Market column. Now readers who enjoyed his musings about the Beverly Hills Farmers' Market can indulge in his new novel, The Sushi Chef.

The book follows the life of an aspiring writer—who makes his living as a waiter—and his relationship with a sushi chef. This fictional tale is about love, loss and the art of Japanese cuisine in New York City during the 1990s, when the gay population was struggling with the AIDS epidemic, which was becoming a more treatable disease rather than a death sentence. De Bacco based the story around his own experiences as a NYC waiter in the '90s.

De Bacco has worked in Washington, D.C., New York, London, Tokyo, Moscow, Paris and Milan for some of the world's most acclaimed chefs and restaurateurs including Nora Pouillon, Chef “Nobu” Matsuhisa, Drew Nieporent, Iron Chef Masaharu “Morimoto” and actor Robert De Niro.
