Man's Leg Severed In Beverly Hills Road Rage Incident; Pair Charged

One of the accused allegedly drove her car toward the victim, pinning him against a railing, severing one of his legs below the knee.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Two Long Beach women have been charged in a suspected road rage incident where a man's leg was severed after being pinned to a wall at a Beverly Hills supermarket parking lot, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.

Jamika Marie Abair, 23, and Sarah Gabriella Huerta, 20, had gotten into an argument last Friday with the victim in the Pavilions supermarket parking lot in the 9400 block of West Olympic Boulevard, prosecutors said. The argument ended with Abair allegedly driving her car toward the victim, pinning him against a railing, severing one of his legs below the knee, according to prosecutors.

The incident was was reportedly captured on video. Abair and Huerta were arrested the next day by Beverly Hills police. Abair remains jailed, while Huerta was released from custody Tuesday, according to jail records.

Abair pleaded not guilty Tuesday to one felony count each of attempted murder, aggravated mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon, a vehicle. Huerta pleaded not guilty to one felony count of accessory after the fact.

The pair are due back in court June 14. If convicted, Abair faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison and Huerta faces three years in county jail.

The case remains under investigation by the Beverly Hills Police Department.
