Nazarian And Friedman Lead, 'Yes' On Term Limits: Real-Time Results

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The polls are closed in Beverly Hills, and voters will soon know which three candidates will join City Council and whether there will be runoff races for county-wide positions like Los Angeles County Sheriff. (Scroll for real-time results below.)

Results as of Thursday evening continued to show a close City Council race; Councilmember Lester Friedman and Sharona Nazarian sat comfortable at the top, separated by only 90 votes. Friedman held the lead with 18.96 percent of the vote, followed by Nazarian with 18.07 percent of the vote.

Councilmembers John Mirisch and Bob Wunderlich and Andy Licht trailed behind but remained incredibly close to each other, according to Los Angeles County data. Mirisch followed Nazaran with 13.79 percent of the vote. Andy Licht surpassed Bob Wunderlich overnight amassing 13.16 percent of the vote.

Only 64 votes kept Licht from edging Mirisch out as of Thursday evening.

"The first results have come in and it is looking good," Friedman said on Instagram Tuesday evening around 9:15 p.m. He added: "Thank you to all of you who came out to vote whether you voted for me or not. This has been a terrific campaign — my opponents did a wonderful job."

Howard Fisher pulled an early lead in the City Treasurer race holding over 60 percent of the vote, followed by Jake Monastery and then Gabrielle Pantera-Rowe.

With the majority of votes cast, just over 80 percent of voters voted 'yes' on an ordinance to establish a three-term limit on city councilmembers and city treasurers. Mayor Lili Bosse and Councilmembers John Mirisch and Julian Gold have all served three terms already. The measure will not affect Mirisch's potential re-election on Tuesday.

All municipal races would be decided in Tuesday's election, and candidates will not move forward to the Nov. 8 general election.

Beverly Hills voters weighed in on a number of Los Angeles County positions, including Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Los Angeles County Sheriff. Statewide, California voters will cast their initial votes for California governor.

Results as of Thursday evening showed a close race between Bob Hertzberg, Lindsey Horvath and Henry Stern, with Hertzberg leading the pack with 34.06 percent of the votes. Lindsey Horvath trailed closely behind with 24.71 percent of the votes. Stern trailed behind with 21.99 percent of the vote. This position will likely move to a runoff given candidates were unlikely to pull more than 50 percent of the vote after initial tallies Tuesday.

For all the county and statewide positions, the two candidates with the most votes on Tuesday will move forward to the Nov. 8 general election.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva's bid for a second term will move to a November runoff election against former Long Beach police Chief Robert Luna, with the pair jumping to distant leads Tuesday evening according to early ballot results.

Gov. Gavin Newsom will proceed to the Nov. 8 general election against Republican state Senator Brian Dahle, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Beverly Hills had 22,100 registered voters as of May 23, according to Los Angeles County. Of the city's registered voters, 42.99 percent were registered as Democrats, 24.59 percent as Republicans and 26.62 percent noted no party preference, according to Los Angeles County data.
