BHS Presents "Scapino"

Burlingame High School's "Scapino" runs this weekend in the newly renovated theater.

When a group of Burlingame High School students take the stage in the comedy Scapino Friday evening, they’ll be participating in more than just a typical opening night—these students are staging the first-ever performance in the newly renovated Burlingame High School Theater.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how our students rise to this great challenge of opening the new theater,” said Director Mary Bettini Blank. “We’ve been rehearsing in a tiny little portable…and I’ve asked them to now move into the theater and fill the house with their voice and their stage presence and to tell the story.”

Scapino, Frank Dunlop and Jim Dale’s adaption of Moliere’s Les Fourberies de Scapin, chronicles the hijinks of a mischievous servant aiding two love struck couples seeking approval in their marriages from their parents.

“They’re a special group of kids,” Bettini Blank said of the cast. “I’m mostly looking forward to watching them grow and develop and watching them have the experience and thrill of our beautiful, new, renovated theater.”

The play runs Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and children. To purchase tickets, visit http://bhstheater.blogspot.com
