Council Preview: Staff to Discuss City Financial Report

The Burlingame City Council meeting is 7 p.m. today.

The City of Burlingame has a “clean” audit report.

That’s according to an audit committee that met Jan. 24 to review the City of Burlingame’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, or CAFR.

Every year, the city conducts an independent audit of all of its financial transactions, according to city documents. According to this year’s CAFR, there were “no audit findings, deficiencies or recommendations,” staff reports.

Prop 1A, which was approved in 2008, allows the use of state bond funds to build a high-speed train project, “but only if that project complies with very specific provisions contained in the bond act itself,” according to a letter from the coalition.

“The state is proposing to spend the money without complying with those mandatory requirements, and the pending litigation challenges this non-compliance with the provisions of Proposition 1A,” according to the coalition.

Both items will be discussed at the Burlingame City Council meeting set for 7 p.m. tonight, Feb. 4, at Burlingame City Hall, 501 Primrose Road.
