Measure E Receives Necessary Two-Thirds Majority
Measure E needed a two-thirds majority vote to pass.

, a four-year parcel tax bringing funding to the Burlingame Elementary School District, needed a two-thirds majority yes vote to pass--and got just that with 67.64 percent of the votes Tuesday night.
"Honestly, we're very pleased," said Perry Mizota of the Committee to Protect Excellent Burlingame Schools. "I think it looks like the measure's going to pass, so we're very appreciative of the community."
However, the outcome is not official yet and will be confirmed at the earliest tomorrow morning, but Mizota said they feel confident.

The measure will tax $76 per year, amounting to about $585,000 for the district annually.
District officials plan for the money to go towards math, science, reading and writing education, including hands-on science labs, books, classroom supplies, instructional materials and qualified teachers. Funds will also bolster art and music programs.

None of the money will go towards administrators' salaries and the funds will be watched by a community oversight committee.
