Calabasas Hires Scott Trujillo As Assistant City Manager

Calabasas' new assistant city manager comes to the city with nearly two decades of experience in public administration.

CALABASAS, CA — Calabasas has hired a public administrator with nearly two decades of experience as its assistant city manager, officials announced.

Scott Trujillo will begin work on Jan. 22. He'll work supporting City Manager Kindon Meik and the City Council, overseeing key operations, implementing strategic plans and acting as a public liaison, the city said in a release.

“Scott comes to the City of Calabasas with an impressive understanding of municipal government and a proven record of performance across multiple departments. He is forward thinking and solution oriented,” Meik said. “I am excited to work with Scott and am confident that he will be a valuable addition to the executive leadership team and the Calabasas community.”

Trujillo has worked for nearly 18 years in local government. He most recently worked as deputy city manager in Indio. He previously worked in municipal community services, economic development and water, city officials said.

“I am truly honored and thrilled to join the Calabasas team. For some time I have been aware of Calabasas and could see myself serving here,” Trujillo said. “As I have gotten to know it better through this process, my appreciation for the community and its operation has only grown and I am eager to start working with the City Council, City Manager, staff and the entire Calabasas community in maintaining our place as a premier city.”

Trujillo has authored multiple articles in PM Magazine, presented at the ICMA and MMASC conferences, participated in the CCMF’s New & Future City Managers Seminar and graduated from ICMA’s High Performance Leadership Academy.

He currently serves on ICMA’s Advisory Committee for Assistants and Deputies.

Trujillo has a bachelors in psychology from Colorado State University and a master's in public administration with an emphasis in government and policy from Grand Canyon University.

He is married with two teenage boys and loves sports, hiking, traveling and volunteering.
