Local Cadet Receives Prestigious Honor

Thomas Miller Jr., a senior, was named the Marine Military Academy (MMA) Cadet of the Month for Fox Company for April 2013.

Though the Calabasas resident received the award in August 2010, he says it means even more to him now that he is the captain of his company.

“It’s an honor to be recognized in front of the Corps of Cadets for my hard work this year and for my company’s outstanding performance in the battalion competition,” he said in an email to Patch. 

Cadets who receive this honor are nominated by their drill instructors based on exemplary attitude, conduct, academic performance and involvement at at the academy.

Miller, a third-year cadet, is the son of Kimberly and Thomas Miller Sr. He plans to major in economics at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, and plans on becoming an officer in the U. S. Marine Corps.
