Pedaler's Fork Rides Into Town Monday

The restaurant, scheduled to open on Monday, is a new concept in dining, catering to foodies, coffee lovers and bicycle enthusiasts.

Pedaler's Fork, a farm-to-table restaurant with a coffee café and a boutique bike shop, opens Monday in Old Town and there is already a lot of positive buzz.

"We are getting a lot of calls from people asking when are we opening," said co-owner Tim Rettele. "I'm expecting a line at the door."

The coffee shop opens at 6 a.m. and the restaurant/bike shop opens at 7 a.m. for those planning on queuing up.

Rettele, whose been in the restaurant industry for 10 years, and partner Robbie Schaeffer said they wanted to open up a destination where the active-set can stop to enjoy wholesome, comfort food and great views

"We chose Calabasas because it is the gateway to the Santa Monica mountains which offers the best biking and hiking paths," said Schaeffer. "Plus Calabasas needs something original to bring life back to Old Town."

Over the past several months, the partners have forged relationships with local farmers and ranchers to guarantee that everything on the menu is fresh and organic.

"For example, all our beef comes from cattle that are grass fed and free range," said Rettele.

All of the fish is line caught and "meets Monerey Bay Aquarium standards," according to Rettele.

The partners said that the eatery is so kid-friendly that they offer their own home-made baby and toddler food on the menu.

In addition, they have a 1300-bottle wine cellar and offer 36 beers on tap.

While waiting for your order, you might want to peruse the bike shop which will sell hand-made bicycles from Moots Bicycle Company, merchandise that can't be purchased locally, said Schaeffer.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all entree's are glutten-free.

Pedaler's Fork is located at 23504 Calabasas Road. The phone number is 818-225-8231.
