Puppy Promotion: How To Adopt A Pet For Free In Calabasas

Just in time for the holidays, you can bring home your new furry friend with no adoption fees.

CALABASAS, CA — Your holiday wishes have been answered, kids, it’s time for a new pet.

For the entire month of December, the Agoura Animal Care Center will waive all adoption fees for all cats and all dogs that have been at the shelter for 10 days or longer. The Agoura Animal Center serves Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills and other local neighborhoods.

The waived price includes adoption, a microchip for your pet, spay or neuter charges and vaccinations, according to Los Angeles Animal Care and Control.

It typically takes 10-14 days for an animal to be adopted after they are deemed “ready to go home,” meaning they have not been claimed as a lost pet and have been spayed or neutered, said Don Belton, public information officer for LA Animal Care and Control. Dogs over 35 pounds also have to be socialized before they are “ready to go home.”

That being said, there is no limit on how long a dog or cat can stay at the shelter before it is adopted, Belton said.
