CALABASAS, CA — Calabasas residents can expect gusty winds and low humidity throughout the weekend, prompting warnings about wildfire risk.

The National Weather Service issued a wind warning for the Santa Monica Mountains and San Fernando Valley starting Friday night and lasting through Saturday afternoon. A red flag warning begins early Saturday morning and lasts through early Sunday morning.

Wind gusts are expected through the weekend between 20 and 35 miles per hour. Gusts are expected to reach up to 50 to 55 miles per hour Friday and Saturday, with gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour in the foothills Saturday morning.

If a fire were to spark during a red flag warning, it would spread quickly given weather conditions. Residents are advised to be prepared for evacuation should a wildfire break out. During a wind warning, residents are advised to drive with caution and secure outdoor objects.
