2 Officers Shot, 1 Critically Injured In San Jose

Two officers and a suspect were rushed to the hospital Thursday night following a shootout in San Jose.

SAN JOSE, CA — Two officers were hospitalized, and one suffered life-threatening injuries, after a shootout with a suspect Thursday night in San Jose, according to police.

The officers were investigating reports of a disturbance on San Ignacio Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. when they made contact with a man who opened fire, police said. Both officers were struck and returned fire, and the suspect was taken into custody. Medics rushed all three men to the hospital.

One officer received treatment for moderate injuries and was released from the hospital, police said early Friday. The second officer was stabilized at the hospital but remained in critical condition. The alleged shooter also suffered serious injuries and was listed in critical condition.
