2 South Bay Commuter Trains Crash Into Vehicles
BREAKING: The accidents, which are unrelated, occurred in the cities of Palo Alto and Campbell.

SOUTH BAY, CA -- Two collisions involving commuter trains and cars took place just over an hour apart in two South Bay cities on Jan. 19. The accidents, which were unrelated, resulted in no reported injuries.
First, a northbound Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light-rail train crashed into a vehicle in Campbell, according to VTA officials. The collision was reported at 3:09 p.m. at South Bascom Avenue and Southwest Expressway, on the border with San Jose.
No passengers were impacted and no injuries were reported, VTA spokeswoman Linh Hoang said.

The crash caused a delay of a few minutes for some trains, but that delay was over by 4:06 p.m.
A bus bridge between the downtown Campbell and Winchester stations was made available and has since been canceled.

Meanwhile, no one was injured when a Caltrain struck a vehicle this afternoon in Palo Alto, Caltrain officials said.
At 4:16 p.m., train No. 261 was heading north when it struck an occupied vehicle at the East Meadow Drive crossing.
About 250 people were on board train No. 261; train No. 263 was able to accommodate all the passengers.
Trains were running normally again as of 5:07 p.m., Caltrain officials said.
