SAN JOSE, CA — A fire in a hotel laundry room in San Jose on Thursday morning was quickly extinguished, a fire captain said.

Smoke was initially reported at 9:57 a.m. from a laundry room at the Aloft San Jose Cupertino hotel at 4241 Moorpark Ave., San Jose Fire Capt. Peter Caponio said.

The first floor of the hotel was evacuated because of the smoke, which activated the building's sprinklers. Firefighters responded and declared the fire under control by about 10:20 a.m., Caponio said.
