Armed Robber Takes Cash and Flees

Campbell Police are still looking for 50-year-old suspect.

The US Bank at 1998 S. Bascom Ave. was robbed at gunpoint this morning.

According to Campbell Police, the robbery occurred at about 9:05 a.m.

A bald 50-year-old Caucasian male, about 5'10," 220 pounds wearing a cream colored Halloween mask and a dark brown “cabbie” style hat, a Grey button-up coat similar to a pea coat and khaki pants entered the bank. He walked up to a teller, displayed a black handgun and demanded cash.

The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed sum of money and was last seen on Bascom Avenue heading toward Hamilton Avenue, Campbell Police Capt. Charley Adams said. No shots were fired during the incident and there are no injuries reported.

This particular bank location has been robbed in the past, Adams confirmed. The suspect in that robbery was caught in Santa Clara and was connected to other robberies in the area. He is currently in custody.

Campbell Police searched a two-mile radius, with 10 officers searching the specific area and other nearby agencies keeping an eye out generally, Adams said. The suspect, however, was not found.

Campbell robbery investigators are reaching out to other local agencies, looking for possibly similar incidents but police have no concrete leads.
