Assailant Fires At Police In San Jose, Is Arrested After Foot Pursuit, Authorities Say
A person with a gun shot at San Jose police Sunday morning, and at least 1 officer returned fire before the suspect was caught, police say.

SOUTH BAY, CA -- A person with a gun shot toward San Jose police officers Sunday morning, and at least one officer returned fire before the suspect was chased down and taken into custody, police said.
At 7:59 a.m. on May 7, officers say they went to the 2200 block of Tully Road where a person was allegedly armed with a gun.
When officers arrived, the suspect allegedly opened fire and at least one officer shot back, according to police. The suspect then allegedly ran from officers and jumped a fence into a mobile home community. Officers found the suspect, arrested them, and took the person to the Santa Clara County jail.

No one was injured, police said.
The officer who opened fire will be on paid administrative leave during an investigation into the shooting, authorities say, and the Police Department's homicide unit and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office will investigate the case.
