"Yea do they still have bed bugs?"

on an unrelated thread.

The small parasites are round, flat and travel by crawling or being carried place to place.

(The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has this FAQ sheet on the bug.)

According to the NBC Bay Area report, the bugs were found in between the cushions of the sofa chairs at the coffee shop.

According to Bedbugregistry.com, there have been 1,525 reports of bed bugs in California, including in San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Palo Alto.

The Santa Clara County Vector Control District's website says some reasons for the recent bed bug resurgence include the bugs’ resistance to common pesticides, increased international and domestic travel, and economic restrictions that favored sharing housing, reusing discarded furniture and homelessness.

Vector Control provides free bed bug identification and educational services for residents. For more information, call (408) 918-4770.
