Calif. Lawmaker Introduces Resolution To Urge President Trump To Resign
A Calif. lawmaker has introduced a resolution to urge Pres. Donald Trump to resign from office and if not, calls on Congress to impeach him.

BAY AREA, CA -- California Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley) has introduced a resolution to urge President Donald Trump to resign from office and if not, calls on Congress to impeach him.
Assembly Joint Resolution 17, which was unveiled May 17, cites Trump’s obstruction of justice, classified leaks, and violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause as grounds for impeachment.
“Americans have had enough of Donald Trump’s unrelenting scandals,” Low said. “Amid the gross incompetence, recklessness and overwhelming conflicts of interest, we can’t wait for the next shoe to drop. We have expressed concern over his actions for months now. It’s time to stand up and do something about it.”

The United States Constitution provides that “the President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”
In the nearly fourth months of Donald Trump’s presidency, he has been accused of the following offenses, among others:

- Violating the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, stemming from his failure to divest himself of his global businesses
- Obstructing justice when he asked FBI Director James Comey to halt the investigation into Michael Flynn before firing Comey who was leading an investigation into his campaign’s ties to Russia
- Jeopardizing America’s foreign relations by leaking classified information to a foreign adversary
“There is a crisis of confidence in the Trump presidency and it is jeopardizing our global standing. I can no longer wait and see if Congress will take action,” Low said.
