Campbell Schools Business Chief Retires

After 11 years, James Crawford wrapped up his tenure with the Campbell Unified School District last week.

CAMPBELL, CA -- The district's Chief Business Officer James Crawford retired last week, ending a lauded career of managing Campbell schools' finances.

The district's Governing Board President Tom Gemetti complimented Crawford on his constant quest to save money for the district "to benefit our students and schools."

With a dual title that included deputy superintendent, Crawford maintained hefty responsibilities including all aspects of district finance, operations and non-instructional programs such as child nutrition, transportation, risk management, technology and construction.

"Jim's leadership has benefited the district in so many ways," District Superintendent Shelly Viramontez said.

Crawford, a San Jose native, has more than 35 years of experience in the business of public education. He's also been active in a number of groups from the West Valley Transportation Joint Powers Authority to the Coalition for Adequate School Housing.
