Detained Man Who Died Friday Identified

Campbell Police booked the man on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

A man who died shortly after being booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on Friday night has been identified as Edwin Lausten.

Lausten, 48, of Sunnyvale, began suffering a medical problem shortly after his arrival at the jail, according to the sheriff's office.

He was brought to the jail by at about 5:45 p.m. and was booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Jail staff initiated CPR, but paramedics pronounced Lausten dead.
