A gold 1995 Mercedes Benz drove through the now empty Hollywood Video location, hitting a pole inside the store at about 11:40 a.m., Campbell Police Capt. Dave Carmichael said in an email.
"I arrived a few minutes after it happened," Bevere told Campbell Patch in an email. "There was glass was everywhere, more than 10 feet spread out in all directions! Plus, what used to be the cashier's area was completely demolished - she had to have been going quite fast to go though the front door, the cashier's desk and through the side window!"

The driver, an 85-year-old female from San Jose was transported to the hospital with "what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries," Carmichael said.
"The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but it does appear likely that the driver inadvertently may have hit the gas pedal rather than the brake when trying to park her car," he said in an email.
